Guru Rinpoche Thangka
This Guru Rinpoche Thangka presents the wisdom and blessings of Padmasambhava. Padmasambhava, also named Guru Rinpoche, is considered a manifestation of Amitabha.
Padmasambhava is often referred to as the Second Buddha because he is so important in contributing his life to develop Tibetan Buddhism in Tibet. It is because of his involvement that the Dharma was firmly founded in the ‘Roof of the Earth.’ Born in the 8th century, Guru Rinpoche or Padmasambhava was a tantric master and famous for having performed miracles.
He is portrayed in this thangka painting in his more conventional depiction sitting in a Royal pose holding a Vajra in his right hand while his left hand holds a skull-cup containing a vase filled with the nectar of life and wisdom.
