Amitabha Buddha Statue 8 inch
Amitabha Buddha Statue is the Buddha of all-encompassing love. He resides in the West (as a meditating Buddha) and strives for the enlightenment of all sentient beings (represented as a blessing Buddha). His most significant method of enlightenment is visualizing the surrounding world as a paradise. He resembles the Buddha because he has the characteristic Ushnisha on the summit of his head, red skin, unique blue hair, long earlobes, three horizontal lines on his neck, a bare right arm, and is clad in monastic robes while seated in vajra position. His hands are always placed in his lap in a meditative position, and he frequently holds a black or dark blue begging bowl.
In artistic representations, Amitabha has two different appearances and names. When referred to as Amitabha (which translates to “unfathomable light”), he has the look of a regular buddha, except he is red and wears the typical monk’s patchwork robes. In his alternate incarnation, he is known by the name Amitayus (“infinite life”) and wears the attire and jewels of a tranquil, celestial god, in accordance with the ancient Indian philosophy of divine aesthetics.
