Green Tara Statue (Sanskrit: Shyamatara; Tibetan: Sgrol-ljang) was said to be the Nepali princess incarnated. Some regard her as the original Tara, and she is the female consort of Amoghasiddhi (see Dhyani-Buddha), one of the “self-born” buddhas. She is usually depicted seated on a lotus throne with her right leg dangling down, wearing bodhisattva jewels and clutching a closed blue lotus (utpala).
In Tibetan Buddhism, Tara is the most loved of all the female enlightened beings. She is known as “the mother of all the buddhas” and “she who ferries beings across the ocean of samsara” because she is the essence of awakened love and compassion.
As a female buddha who has reached full enlightenment, Tara is the embodiment of compassion and wisdom, and meditating on her helps us wake up our own buddhanature. Her right foot is a little bit out in front of her because she is ready to jump to help someone. She is being kind by putting her right hand out on her right knee. Her left hand is holding the stem of a lotus flower next to her left ear.
